Not a Speck of Light

I am a Laird Barron fanboy, and I was not at all disappointed in this collection. It is fascinating how it pairs with the earlier Quick to Chase collection, and contrasts with earlier collections (which the author discusses in his afterword). I, personally, prefer Barron's work in the cosmic horror/hopeless phase, while many of these stories feature survivors doing just that. But they are badass, and the language is gorgeous, and the vistas are bleak and hide dark, dark holes.
